KC Style Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients
20 ounces ketchup
16 ounces tomato sauce, 2 – 8 ounce cans
1 1/4 cups dark brown sugar
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup molasses, unsulfured
2 chipotle peppers, diced (from chipotle pepper in adobo sauce)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
Directions
In a large sauce pan over medium heat combine all ingredients. Whisk to combine well. Bring to a boil. Reduce to simmer for 1 hour.
