Ingredients
2 pounds London broil
1 recipe Lil Texas Spice Rub, recipe below
Hoagie rolls
Peppercorn steak sandwich sauce, recipe below
Lettuce
Tomato slices
Onion slices
Lil Texas Spice Rub:
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
2 teaspoons New Mexico chili powder
2 teaspoons chipotle chili powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon ground chile de arbol, or cayenne pepper
Steak Sandwich Sauce:
3 tablespoons mayo
1 tablespoon A1 peppercorn sauce
1 tablespoon barbecue sauce
Directions
Preheat grill to high.
Press paper towel onto steak to dry. Spray with olive oil and sprinkle Lil Texas Spice Rub all over steak. Flip steak over and repeat. Once grill is hot (about 15 minutes) place steak on the hottest part of the grill and cook 7-10 minutes on each side. Grill until you have good grill marks and the steak is medium rare to medium (about 140 degrees F).
Transfer steak to cutting board and let rest, tented with foil, about 10 minutes. Holding thin slicing knife at 45-degree angle to meat, slice very thinly. Prepare bread by slicing in half lengthwise and spreading with steak sandwich sauce. Add lettuce, tomato and onion. Layer slices of steak.
